About Us

We are managed by a voluntary Trustee Board, whose members come from varied backgrounds and meet regularly to ensure the smooth running of the bureau.

Our advisers are volunteer workers who between them have a wealth of life experience. They have to undertake systematic and rigorous training to meet the nationally set standards.   They are in the Bureau for 1 day a week, but as all cases are recorded and kept confidentially any adviser can follow up a case on subsequent visits.

Advisers are trained to deal with all subjects and have internal support and external agencies that offer further help when needed. You may be referred to an outside specialist if necessary.

We want to give you advice and support to help you deal with your difficulties. This could involve negotiating and writing letters on your behalf or negotiating with third parties.

Some of the issues we deal with are:

Welfare benefits

Debt / money difficulties

Consumer issues

Housing and homelessness

Relationship and family problems

Employment Rights

Travel and Holidays

Nationality and Immigration

If it is difficult for you to get into the bureau you may get the information you need on Citizens Advice website: www.adviceguide.org.uk
